ACE Governor Conference

Members, Directors and Governors gathered at the Atlantic Centre in Newquay in November for a full day of ACE specific Governor training.

New School Council Representatives

The ACE School Council enjoyed an excellent first meeting of the year. All members participated brilliantly and showed that we are in for a very productive year.

We started the meeting by discussing all of the things the individual School Councils have been doing.

After discussing the roles of the officers, there were many excellent presentations from children wishing to serve in the various offices. The children then voted under the direction of Mrs Walker.

The successful candidates were:

Chair - Elodie from St Columb Major

Vice-Chair - Sarah from St Kew

Secretary - Jake from Charlestown

Vice-Secretary - Rebecca from St Kew

Treasurer - Isobel from Upton Cross

Congratulations to all, from the quality of their presentations, I am sure they will be fantastic in their roles.

The Council then discussed the plans all schools had made for Anti-Bullying Week, every School Council within the Trust planned at least 2 things.

We then revised the priorities for the Trust (Writing, Maths and Anti-Bullying) and how the ACE School Council could play their part in the coming year.

Summer Term ACE Sports Event

Tuesday 3rd July 2018 will go down in history as a great day for English football as England secured their spot in the quarter finals of the World Cup in Moscow, after their first ever penalty shootout win in a World Cup!  Kernow Teaching School Alliance Partnership Training Day October 2018

The KTSA October training day saw teachers from ACE Trust and three other trusts come together at the Headland Hotel to receive a fascinating day’s input on the Nordic Schools. The day was delivered by Casper Rongsted and Rasmus Schiellerup from Denmark, who despite having English as a second language eloquently delivered an interesting and amusing presentation on the education systems of the Nordic region. Their presentation included an introduction to the Nordic Teaching Model and teachers were invited to measure themselves against the areas of the model. From Danish pastries to Cornish pasties it was certainly an entertaining day!

It was great to network with teachers from The Learning Academy Trust, Newquay Educational Trust and WAVE Trust to share ideas and discuss best practise. Twenty schools were represented on the day. Our thanks to the representatives from ACE who work on the KTSA School Improvement Committee that organises this annual training day together with teachers from the other trusts.

ACE School Council Meeting - 20.02.18
At the ACE School Councillors meeting at Beacon Academy, school councillors met other fellow councillors from within the ACE  Multi-Academy Trust and also our Chief Executive, Jennie Walker. The children got to talk about charities they would like to support, what makes their school special and healthy schools. The councillors also had some great ideas for improvements, how to share successes across the MAT and some thoughts of how the children can work collaboratively within ACE.  In addition to these topics, the group also had the opportunity to interview Jennie Walker and asked her some thoughtful  questions. The children were keen to know what her role entailed, her view on the Year 6 Tests and what she did to unwind including her favourite hobbies, food and sports.
