On 12 June 14 school councillors from seven schools in the Atlantic Centre of Excellence Multi-Academy Trust (ACE MAT) got together for a morning of Forest School themed team building activities. The newly formed ACE School Council met at St Columb Major's off-site Forest School, at the Cornish Birds of Prey Centre, to introduce themselves and get to know each other prior to continued collaborative working.
This was the very first get-together of council representatives from schools in the MAT who are now members of the newly formed ACE School Council. The aim of this joint council is to share ideas, link the academies closer together and give the children an opportunity to meet and work with council members from other schools. The sharing of ideas and successes can then be disseminated back to their own school councils.
The children displayed great work and communications skills - while getting mucky! - and enjoyed taking part in activities such as den building, flag making using nature’s resources, and chatting round the campfire while toasting marshmallows!
Thank you to the Year 5 school council representatives who attended from St Columb Major, St Kew, St Agnes, Charlestown, Upton Cross, St Columb Minor and Robartes.
