St Columb Major Happiness Day

13th November 2017

World Kindness Day at St Columb Major ACE Academy

The children and staff at St Columb Major embraced World Kindness Day with some real gusto on Monday 13 December, and from what we have seen, it hasn't stopped.  During morning assembly on Monday the School Council introduced their idea for all children to say and write compliments about each other, then deliver these kind phrases at the end of the day to the lucky recipients. This included members of the school community, and there was no limit on the number of slips they could write.

At the end of the day I was pleased to hear from the teachers that this was done with real enthusiasm by all year groups, and interestingly many preferred giving compliments as it made them feel good. There were lots of smiling faces from those who received positive comments too!

In addition to this, classes around the school carried out other activities based on the theme, and many taught mixed year groups for a session so the children could help and work with others.

Thanks again to all the hard work by the staff and the children for making this day special, and let's hope that what we have learnt and shared about kindness will continue in our everyday lives.
